Warriors and Rockets to celebrate Filipino Heritage Night




Atlanta, USA – In support of the Filipino American History month this October, the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets are celebrating Filipino Heritage Night.

The Warriors host the Sacramento Kings in a Sunday afternoon matinee (5:30pm, Pacific timezone). 

The Bay Area is home to about half a million Filipinos, according to a 2019 count by the Bay Area Filipino Complete Count Committee.

Famed Spyros Bros will be one of the featured performers throughout the evening. The duo of Marc and Marco, first became popular in the Philippines when they presented their tricks and flair in showing off the diabolo (Chinese yoyo) on Talentadong Pinoy and It’s Showtime. Their fame rocketed further when they as far as becoming semifinalist in Season 15 of America’s Got Talent. The duo is now one of the sought-after halftime acts by other NBA teams. 

DJ Umami is expected to hype up the crowd in the pregame at the Chase Center. Likha Pilipino Folk Ensemble and the Mabuhay Folkloric Society will be featured performers throughout the evening.


On Monday, Jalen Green and the Rockets will host Jordan Clarkson and the Utah Jazz.

The Jazz are off to a scorching start beating Denver Nuggets and the Minnesota Timberwolves. Despite the great numbers by Green, the team has been winless so far in the first week of the season.

For the evening, Green has dedicated some autographed items for a silent auction that will look to benefit a local Filipino organization in Houston. 

Filipino American dancer and choreographer Brian Puspos will join the Clutch City Dancers for a halftime performance.


A postgame Q&A happens where Green will be joined by Puspos and newly crowned Miss USA R’Bonney Gabriel, Filipino-American beauty queen based in Houston Texas. She will represent the United States in the next Miss Universe pageant.
